RJA13 : OOFT!
January 18, 2010 01:57 AM PST
To celebrate the 10th and final release on L.E.S.S. Productions, OOFT! have created this mix of memorable tunes from the L.E.S.S. vaults.
Fitting all 45 tracks that have been released on the label proved a job too far to cram into an hour-long mix, so instead what you're about to hear gives a representation of what L.E.S.S. was all about - re-imagining songs we all loved into a more DJ-friendly format. Simple. From the loose funk opening of Robert Palmer's "Work To Make It Work" through The Revenge's fixation with new jack swing and onto to percussive disco dubs, it's a fun filled 78 mintues of audio. Plus all of the tracks contained in the LESS010 "Versionitis" release are in there somewhere Tracklist 1. Robert Palmer - Work To Make It Work (The Revenge Edit)
RJA12 : Simon Busby

Foo Fighters - Everlong (The Revenge Rework) December 27, 2009 02:44 PM PST
Next up in the series is London-based disc(o) jockey Simon Busby, who turns in a dope mix of pitch-down bangers for your listening pleasure.
Originally crafting instrumental hip-hop mixtapes before discovering the Electric Chair whilst living in Manchester, Simon hit London in 2005 with his much loved Short Circuit night, before creating his new Glitterball events which fill interesting spaces in the big smoke with and friendly crowd and a cool mixture of disco and house. Sounds right up our street! The mix itself has plenty of high points including Mark 7, Pete Herbert, Mark E and more, so tuck in.

RJA11 : Deep Space Orchestra
December 03, 2009 05:14 AM PST
We're coming thick & fast now for the rest of the year with a plethora of new mixes to get out before the xmas slow-down. Next up is a cracking mix from our Deep Space Orchestra chums from down south.
Deep Space Orchestra are Chris Barker (Jigsaw/TrebleO) & Si Murray (Cronk Family Enterprises/Jazzchops), two music afficionados hailing from the Liverpool area. With one joint release already out on our Five20East imprint you can expect to hear plenty more from these two in the oh-ten with forthcoming works on Drumpoet and a couple of others which have escaped my mind at present

RJA10 : Tosh Ohta
November 26, 2009 02:29 AM PST
Next up in the series is another new face - Bournemouth based Tosh Ohta. He's a medium sized anglo-japanese crate digger / enthusiast, and has been running his night This Sporting Life at Sixty Million Postcards (the infamous Lock Tavern's sister pub) for 3 years.
The mix spans 3 decades of music, taking influences from everywhere including Factory Records (Quando Quango and Mondays), 80s pop (Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac), Proto house (Mr Fingers / Psychotropic) and many other places. Tosh's night This Sporting Life has just migrated to London (debuting at the Lock Tavern on Chalk Farm Road) so keep the eyes peeled for more dates in the big smoke if you like the sound of the mix.

RJA09 : Hushpuppy
November 22, 2009 10:23 AM PST
Resident DJ at the legendary R-P-Z Thursday night sessions at the Glasgow School of Art, Hushpuppy takes us on a cosmic odyssey of the highest order. This mix gives an insight into the earlier hours of an R-P-Z Thursday, before guests such as Alex Metric & Autokratz (playing live at the end of this month) crank up the pressure and get the Art Schoolers brewing up to fever pitch. Selection-wise the mix is something of a departure from previous Ruffjamz episodes, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we did Sorry - no tracklist :

Glasgow's resident South African house aficionado Esa mixes up a decades worth of 4/4 gold in tribute to his late father.
In the short time he's been living in Glasgow Esa has got stuck right in to the house scene and put together several Red Bull workshops with dons such as Linkwood and Josh Wink, as well as bagging himself a resident spot at our favourite local night Subculture. His dad Mervin used to DJ in S.A. back in the day, so to mark a decade since his passing he's delved deep into his collection to put together this blend of some mighty fine classic deep house, fittingly titled "A decade of dedication Mervin Granger Williams '99-'09".

Newcastle's Habit resident Scott Udberg provides the ammo for number 4 in our series. August 24, 2009 02:37 AM PDT
Our series continues with a great mix from Glasgow's Godfather Of House and long time Sub Club resident, Harri. Effortlessly blending styles and genres underpinned by a House groove, Harri alongside DJing partner Domenic, have given Glaswegians a perfect excuse to let loose every Saturday night. It's become a cliche to say that to experience the true meaning of 'House', you have to visit the Sub Club on a Saturday night and we'll raise a glass (or two) to that. Tracklist : August 16, 2009 09:44 AM PDT
The second edition of our podcast series is a live recording from the OOFT! DJ set at last weeks Solar Disco in Glasgow.
We had a rare chance to play some tunes together as OOFT! last weekend at Solar Disco and came away with a recording that was less patchy than the 'beer fog' would have suggested. Covering the "slo-mo" to the "fast-mo" with a sprinkling of "inbetween-mo" and with only one request all night, I think we served our nation well. Or at least the 50 people that turned up.

To kick off the relaunch of our Ruff Jamz podcast series, we are pleased to present a mix from Neville's Disco.
I met the men behind the mix (Paul Thompson and Paul Barton) in Newcastle where I was playing recently. Paul T met me off the train where his dad took us round loads of pubs and we proceeded to get smashed before going and playing records. Not always the best idea but fun nonetheless.
This is a great little laidback mix that I've been listening to over and over.
